Red Envelopes – A Twitter Chinese New Year’s Party…

by Ellen

and guess what…you’re invited!

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy New Year…the Year of the Ox…

DATE: January 26, 2009

TIME: all day long!

Place: Twitter or my place at Twitter

Everyone is invited…and no, you don’t have to be Chinese. I’m not technically Chinese, but 10 years ago, when I went to China to adopt my baby daughter, our wonderful Chinese guide “Martin” told all of us on the day our children were placed in our arms, that we were now part Chinese. So, I feel a special affinity for the beautiful Chinese people and their history and culture. And I am truly blessed to have a Chinese child.

In China, money is sometimes given in red envelopes as a symbol of good luck and prosperity in the coming year. So visit others’ Twitter pages, read their bios…and take some time to tweet them a Chinese New Year’s greeting, wishing them all good things…plus…

be sure to add #RedEnvelope09 at the end of your tweets so we can find them and read them too! And if you’re so inclined, please re-tweet (RT) this invite to others.

Happy New Year…Gong Xi Fa Cai!

(and a special thanks to Phyllis Mufson for the inspiration for this idea!)
